Coverage is effective from September 1 to August 31, annually.
The current provider for the CBUSU health and dental plan is The Campus Trust. The yearly cost of the health plan is $220, while the dental plan is $120 which would make up a combined $330 for students who wish to remain enrolled in both.
Opting-Out
Students who have their own coverage through an employer, parent or are sponsored by an Indigenous Band Council are eligible to opt-out of the CBUSU plan. Students must opt out between July 22- September 14, 2026. Students will not be able to opt-out before Wednesday, July 22nd 2026.
Students who do not opt out before the deadline will be charged for both plans. Visit the CBUSU website to view upcoming deadlines. To access your benefit card or review the benefits available, visit cbusu.drawbridge.ca

Fill out the personal information requested on the form and attach your proof of coverage. This can be a photo of your insurance card, letter from insurance company or a Band Card.
Your name must be listed on the card/document to be accepted as proof of coverage.
Complete all information requested and be sure to use your CBU email.
Once you have submitted your form click “Visit Portal” at the bottom of your page and it will load a screen showing your opt-out is complete. You will receive an email confirmation as well.
You will be taken to a page that confirms your opt-out.
We encourage you to take a screenshot for your records. In the event that you do not receive a confirmation email or are charged, this screenshot will provide your opt-out proof.

Benefit Cards
For students who choose to remain enrolled in one or both plans, your benefit cards can be accessed in September by visitingcbusu.drawbridge.ca. Once on the site, be sure to register to confirm your identity. After you have confirmed your identity, you will have access to your benefit cards, the ability to submit claims and track your usage throughout the year.
Adding Dependents
Any student who wishes to add dependents to their health or dental plan can do so by visiting the CBUSU reception desk before the add/drop date of that semester. To add dependents, you will have to fill out an opt-in form and make the necessary payments depending on the type and number of dependents you want to add.
Dependents include:
Spouse
Common law partner (living together for a minimum of one year)
Children who live with you on a full-time basis under the age of 21 and who depend on you for support while living in a parent-child relationship
Children under the age of 25 who are enrolled in full-time study at an accredited institution (yearly submission of documentation required)
All plan members and dependants must be under the age of 70 and have a provincial health card to be eligible for coverage.
Who Else is Eligible?
Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Canadian Students
Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Canadian students enrolled in courses amounting to less than 9 credits are also eligible for coverage. If they are interested in joining the plan, they must visit the Students’ Union reception desk prior to September 14, 2026, to complete the opt-in form and make the necessary payment.
New Canadian Students
New students arriving in January 2027, are also eligible for coverage if they enrol at the Students’ Union reception desk before January 15, 2027.
Master’s Students
Master’s students are also eligible for coverage but must enrol as a member of the Students’ Union before opting in to the benefits plan. If you are a Master’s student, visit the CBUSU reception desk where you will be required to fill out an opt-in form and pay the necessary fees.
International Students
International students are not eligible for the CBUSU Campus Trust plan. Instead, they are automatically enrolled in the mandatory Guard.Me International Health Insurance plan. For more information, please visit the CBU Guard.Me webpage or email internationaloffice@cbu.ca
