Collective Bargaining Updates

The CBU and CBUFA bargaining teams continue meeting to negotiate a new collective agreement for CBUFA members.

Additional tentative agreement has been reached on several articles, and the teams continue to narrow the list of outstanding proposals.

At this time, both CBU and CBUFA felt that the assistance of a third party would be helpful in the process, so we have agreed to file jointly for Conciliation. Conciliation is a common step in the collective bargaining process where the province appoints a neutral third party, a Conciliator, who is tasked with helping the parties negotiate a collective agreement.

The teams will continue to meet while a Conciliator is being appointed, and we are scheduled to meet again in late November.

I would like to thank both negotiation teams for the open discussions and commitment to the process. We look forward to continued productive meetings.

James McKee
