Cape Breton University (CBU) is seeking applicants interested in joining the Emergency Management & Security Services team within Risk Management as a Campus Security Officer. This position will be a full-time limited term for approximate 10 months located at the Cineplex.
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Emergency Management & Security Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating and fostering a safe and open campus community which includes education and the promotion/enforcement of university regulations relating to safety and security. The successful candidates will ensure safety of persons, protection of information, and protection of property. Regular shifts include days, nights and weekends. This is an active, physically demanding position responding to emergencies, requests for assistance, traffic/parking control and enforcement of CBU policies.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for promoting and ensuring the personal health and safety of employees, students, and visitors as well as buildings on campus or associated with CBU. The Campus Security Officer will investigate occurrences, prepare reports, engage with their community, participate in regular foot patrols and participate in the delivery of educational programs for students and employees.
