Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for the full-time limited term position of Administrative Coordinator within the Community Engagement Program. This role will be approximately 40 hours a week* until October 31, 2025 at $22.50 per hour. The chosen candidate will start as soon as possible.
The Community Engagement Program provides students with meaningful employment experiences in rural communities—primarily across the Victoria and Richmond municipalities. To ensure the smooth and reliable operation of daily student transportation via shuttle vans, the Administrative Co-ordinator plays a vital role in supporting efficient service delivery, liaising with multiple drivers and over 30 rural employers.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Administrative Co-ordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational and administrative functions of the Community Engagement Program’s shuttle service. This includes scheduling, real-time coordination, and communication with student workers, drivers, and employers. The Co-ordinator will also handle payroll tracking, generate operational reports, and support other clerical duties with high levels of professionalism and accuracy. As a first point of contact for students and employers, strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
The Co-ordinator will oversee general office tasks including filing, document preparation, meeting coordination, and spreadsheet management. They will track drivers’ weekly hours, complete payroll documentation each pay period, and record end-of-shift data to generate reports. They will provide real-time operational support by aligning student job placements with delivery schedules and will be expected to report any conditions that impact punctuality or safety. Consistent, professional communication via email, phone, and text is required to maintain smooth operations and support.
*While the regular work week is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (40 hours), operational demands may require occasional evening and weekend shifts.
