Cape Breton Medical Campus Welcomes First Students

The Cape Breton Medical Campus welcomed the Class of 2029 on August 21, as orientation activities for Nova Scotia’s future physicians continue in Sydney and Halifax.

The first class is made up of 30 students from across Nova Scotia who have embraced the opportunity to pursue family and rural medicine as future physicians in their home province. The CBMC, adjacent to Cape Breton University’s main campus in Sydney, Nova Scotia, is the result of a partnership with Dalhousie University to offer a rural pathway designed to support recruitment and retention of doctors, which will greatly benefit the health needs of many Nova Scotians.

Classes are set to begin on September 3, in a temporary location next to the medical sciences building that is nearing completion.
