Cape Breton University has launched a new Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management and is currently accepting applicants for the Fall 2022 semester. Designed to prepare professional and post-degree students with an advanced understanding of the skills necessary for effective management of occupational health, safety and risk across disciplines, this program will enable graduates to thrive in today’s ever evolving workplace.

“At Cape Breton University, we recognize the inherent challenges of maintaining proper health and safety in all workplaces,” says Patrick Howard, Dean of the School of Education and Health. “We are excited to offer the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, preparing students for these in-demand roles in any industry.”

Occupational Health and Safety students will complete 39 credits in total, finishing their program in two years with the option to complete a work placement or capstone project in their final semester. In addition to the foundational knowledge of occupational health and safety, students will be exposed to a variety of topics such as accident management, human resources, industrial relations, laws and standards, emergency preparedness and more.

Graduates will enter the workforce equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide coaching and guidance on identifying, assessing and communicating occupational health and safety standards.
