Health Innovation Student Pitch Event Held at Cape Breton University

On Saturday, March 25, Cape Breton University and Nova Scotia Health will host a student pitch competition that will bring together students, businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and community stakeholders to support investment in the health sector. Participating students will have an opportunity to bring their business ideas forward for a chance to win $5000 and business mentorship provided by Invest Nova Scotia, the province’s early-stage venture capital organization.

“Cape Breton University is excited to provide mentorship opportunities for these young entrepreneurs,” says Todd Graham, Manager of Island Sandbox. “We are looking forward to more of these kinds of future health innovation that will be coming from CBU students as we look to contribute to solving some of the health issues in our province.”

Four finalists will present their pitches to attendees along with a panel of judges from the startup, innovation and health sectors. The event will take place from 9:00am-1:00pm in the Pit Lounge and will feature the live pitch competition along with a light lunch and a networking mixer. While the RSVP for in person attendance is now closed, virtual attendance is available to anyone who would like to tune in to watch the pitches.

Invest Nova Scotia’s goal is to find, fund and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups that strive to change the world. For more information on the event, contact healthandwellness@cbu.ca
