CBU to Retire Ally Rowe’s Jersey in Celebration of Outstanding Women’s Soccer Career

Cape Breton University Athletics will honour the most accomplished student-athlete in CBU history when the jersey of Ally Rowe is officially retired on Friday, October 2.

Rowe represented the CBU women’s soccer program from 2019 to 2024, leaving a lasting mark on the program and the CAPERS community. In her 5 seasons of play at CBU, she broke many records, with the most notable being the AUS/ U SPORTS most goals in a single season record and the AUS/ U SPORTS most career goals record. In her final season, she managed to surpass the AUS/ U SPORTS career goals record for men’s soccer as well. Off the pitch, Ally was a star in the classroom, earning Academic All-Canadian status during each of her 5 years. The jersey retirement will celebrate Rowe’s outstanding contributions to CBU soccer and recognize the legacy she created during her five seasons wearing CAPERS colours.

The day’s celebrations will begin with a formal jersey retirement ceremony from 3:00-4:00pm in the Dr. Carl “Bucky” Buchanan CAPERS Hall of Fame.

Fans will have an opportunity to share in the celebration later that afternoon at Ness Timmons Field, where Ally will be recognized with an on-field presentation at approximately 4:40pm, ahead of the CAPERS women’s soccer game scheduled to kick off at 5:00pm.

Ally will be present on the field at half-time of the women’s game to sign autographs for the fans in attendance.

Following the women’s game, the celebration will continue with a meet-and-greet-style reception in the CBU High-Performance Centre, providing teammates, alumni, friends, fans and members of the CBU community an opportunity to congratulate Rowe and celebrate her remarkable CAPERS career.
