Cape Breton University announced today that it will host Canada’s premiere student leadership conference from November 22-23, 2019. The Leader’s Edge Student Leadership Conference will engage and inspire students while providing practical hands-on experience.
“During our Strategic Planning sessions, we heard from many students that they want more opportunities to give them an edge in their future career development,” says David C. Dingwall, President. “The Leaders Edge Student Leadership Conference will act as a platform to help articulate the vision needed to excel in today’s ever-evolving workforce.”
Over the two-day conference, students will hear from world-class speakers and gain a better understanding of the skills needed to be successful in today’s workforce.
The Leader’s Edge Conference will feature keynote speaker Ikdeep Singh, Brand President of L’Oreal USA. Singh, born in India, and raised in Canada, has close family ties to Cape Breton. He studied at CBU before pursuing further education in the US. Singh has led teams across North America, and currently oversees one of L’Oreal’s most iconic luxury brands – Georgia Armani. Prior to this role, Singh led notable brands like L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline, Garnier, essie and NYX across North America. With a reputation of being an exceptional talent developer, Singh is also a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ikdeep Singh to the Cape Breton University campus,” says Dingwall. “His inspirational journey and extensive business knowledge make him a true leader, whom our students will benefit greatly from.”
Other speakers include Cameron Hughes, the world’s most renowned sports and entertainment fan; and Hannah Graham and Lainie Smith, Managers at Dash Hudson, visual marketing software for the world’s most important brands.
Additionally, student attendees will earn a student leadership certificate by participating in conference sessions and panels, while mastering skills needed for the work-place.
