CBU Names Bianchini in Advisory Role as Industry Expert – Tourism

Cape Breton University has named Michele Bianchini as Industry Expert – Tourism. This advisory role will provide strategic advice directly to the President and the Dean of the Shannon School of Business.

Dingwall, President and Vice-Chancellor. “Her expertise and experience in the tourism and hospitality sector are major assets to this region as a whole. With her strategic advice and counsel there is a very real opportunity to even further enhance the very good work being done within the industry both at CBU, and in Cape Breton.”

The Industry Expert – Tourism will work to support the efforts of CBU’s strategic plan, including its five directions, and provide insights into new tourism trends and strategic direction to further support the latest development of new tourism initiatives happening at CBU. Additionally, the Industry Expert – Tourism will look at how to best position CBU’s Bachelor of Hospitality Tourism management program, host a sector specific conference on tourism related opportunities, and engage with stakeholders at all levels in order to increase awareness about CBU specific initiatives. The Industry Expert Tourism will also meet regularly with the Managing Director of the World Tourism Institute on to discuss matters related to a suite of potential Tourism projects.

Bianchini brings more than 30 years of experience and is a graduate of CBU’s Bachelor of Arts program. She is currently the General Manager of the Simon Hotel and is responsible for all aspects of the hotel management, operations and strong fiscal administration. She is a recipient of both the Hotel Association of Canada Humanitarian Award of Excellence in recognition of those working in Canada`s lodging industry who demonstrate dedication and responsiveness to the needs of the local, national and global community and the Atlific Hotels of Canada General Manager of the Year Award.

Bianchini’s three-year term as Industry Expert – Tourism officially began January 4, 2024.
