CBU Celebrates Giving Tuesday with Donations to Island Food Banks

On this Giving Tuesday Cape Breton University is recognizing the importance of community by donating to food banks Island-wide. Giving Tuesday is an international grassroots movement that encourages and amplifies small acts of kindness and giving, whether through monetary donations, volunteering time or other resources.

“2020 has not necessarily been kind to everyone, and that means we need to be kinder to each other,” says David C. Dingwall, President and Vice-Chancellor. “When those in our community need support, it is important to lend a helping hand. These donations will assist the noble work of community organizers and volunteers to continue supporting some of our most vulnerable populations.”

The donation from CBU will see 16 community organizations receive $1000 each, including the CBU Students’ Union Food Bank. Thanks to the generosity of J & W Murphy Foundation, the donation to CBUSU foodbank will be matched, along with additional donations received.
