Cape Breton University to Host Subway AUS Men’s Soccer Championship and Basketball Home Openers

It’s a great week to be a Capers fan as Cape Breton University hosts the Subway AUS Men’s Soccer Championship and the Orange Out Basketball Home Openers on campus November 2-5.

“We are excited to host some of the country’s best student-athletes here at CBU this week,” says John Ryan, Director of Athletics. “We hope to see the stands filled with orange at both our soccer and basketball games this week, giving our Capers the support they need to bring home the win.”

The Subway AUS Men’s Soccer Championship Presented by Bell will kick-off on Wednesday, November 2, with quarter-final games between Dalhousie University and the University of New Brunswick as well as Saint Mary’s University and Universite de Moncton. The Capers will take on the winner of game two on Thursday, November 3, at 6:00pm. The Championship final will take place on Saturday, November 5, at 2:00pm. The Capers hope to secure their sixth back-to-back AUS title as they defend on home turf at the Ness Timmons Soccer Field.

The Capers women’s soccer team is chasing an AUS title on the road at Acadia University, playing their semi-final game on Thursday, November 3, at 3:00pm. Games will be available via broadcast at austv.ca

The Orange Out Basketball Home Openers will take place at the Sullivan Field House on Friday, November 5, with an Alumni social in the Pit Lounge beginning at 5:00pm as well as kids activities in the gym with Basketball Cape Breton.
