Cape Breton University Introduces Bursary to Support International Students from Nova Scotia High Schools

Cape Breton University is proud to announce a new bursary designed to support international students who have completed high school education in Nova Scotia. This bursary matches the international differential fees for students entering undergraduate programs directly from high school, meaning recipients will pay the same tuition as a Canadian student.

This innovative bursary is designed to make post-secondary education more accessible for international students who have already chosen Nova Scotia as their home during their high school years.

“There are a number of high school students from countries around the world studying in Nova Scotia through exchange programs or because their families have moved to the province for their own studies or career,” says President and Vice-Chancellor, David Dingwall. “This bursary will enable them to enrol in CBU just as a local high school student would, paying the same tuition. We want these students to continue to call Nova Scotia home.”

The bursary covers the international differential fees for the duration of a student’s undergraduate studies at CBU, an average of $10,000 per academic year. All undergraduate programs are eligible under this initiative, making it accessible to students with diverse academic interests and career aspirations.

To be eligible for the bursary, students must be accepted into a CBU undergraduate program, have completed at least one full year of study at a Nova Scotia high school and are entering CBU directly from high school. CBU has a long-standing reputation for fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students from around the world and this bursary further underscores the University’s commitment to supporting the next generation of students while fostering diverse academic communities.
