Cape Breton University is proud to host this year’s December to Remember, an annual series of festive events for students to enjoy over the holiday break. Kicking off on Tuesday, December 17, with a free skate at Centre 200, December to Remember was designed to help students living in Cape Breton feel at home while away from family during the holiday season.
Through a variety of community partnerships, the University has organized a series of events ranging from a pottery painting night at Fired Creations to holiday movie nights at the Highland Arts Theatre and even a Cape Breton Eagles hockey game, all of which are free to attend for students who register.
“Being away from home, from family, during the holiday season is never easy,” says CBU President and Vice-Chancellor, David C. Dingwall. “Our goal at the University is to ensure everyone feels welcome, and we try to address that need as best we can with the warmth and hospitality Cape Breton has always been known for.”
The Student Affairs team has been hard at work to ensure students who couldn’t travel home for the holiday break could still be surrounded by friendship and fun. “During the holidays, a small act of kindness can make all the difference for students who are studying away from home,” says Student Development Officer, Jacob Arsenault. “Providing various opportunities to connect with other students helps foster a sense of community and belonging, even when the campus is closed. It’s a reminder that the holiday spirit can thrive amongst the CBU community, no matter where we are.”
