CBU Congratulates Chief Paul J. Prosper

Cape Breton University (CBU) congratulates Chief Paul J. Prosper on his recent election victory and new role as the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Regional Chief for the Assembly of First Nations.

“I know Chief Prosper will be a strong advocate and ambassador for chiefs from both provinces,” says CBU President, David Dingwall. “I am confident he will achieve great things over the next three years.”

Chief Prosper has served his community as Chief of the Paqtnkek First Nation since 2013, and is known for the love and dedication with which he has served. Chief Prosper has taught Mi’kmaq Governance and Aboriginal and Treaty Rights here at CBU, inspiring students with his extensive experience working with Canadian and Mi’kmaq law.

Together with National Chief Perry Bellegard and the rest of the Regional Chiefs, Chief Prosper will work to better the lives of many First Nations, as the community continues on the ongoing journey of reconciliation.

Congratulations from all of us here at CBU!
