Cape Breton Medical Campus Update

This message is sent on behalf of David C. Dingwall, President and Vice-Chancellor, Cape Breton University and Dr. David Anderson, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University.

Good morning,

We are writing to provide you with an update on the Cape Breton Medical Campus, a joint initiative between our two institutions. There has understandably been a great deal of excitement and questions surrounding this transformational partnership, so we are pleased to share with you the memorandum of understanding (MOU) that has been established between us.

The MOU outlines the framework for our partnership and establishes the Cape Breton Medical Campus Steering Committee. The Steering Committee has committed to establishing a further agreement that will address all operational matters, including financial and human resources required for the creation of a medical school campus by 2025. We believe that this partnership has great potential to provide excellent medical education in Cape Breton and to benefit the region for years to come.

Transparency leading up to the launch of the campus is top of mind, and to keep everyone informed of our progress, we will be publishing a monthly newsletter and launching a website that will include up-to-date information on our progress and how community members and physicians can become involved. We look forward to sharing these details with you in the near future, and we encourage you to stay engaged and involved as we work together to make the Cape Breton Medical Campus a success.

Our focus right now is on working together to launch this campus successfully. We are committed to collaborating to ensure the success of this partnership, and we believe that by working together, we can make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.

Thank you for your continued support,

Your very truly,

David C. Dingwall
