Film Screening- Queens of the Qing Dynasty

CBU Alumni, faculty & staff and the Cape Breton community are invited to join us on campus on April 3 for a FREE screening of the Cape Breton based film, Queens of the Qing Dynasty, proudly presented by CBU Alumni, in partnership with Telefilm Canada and MDFF, followed by a Q & A with actor, Ziyin Zheng.

About the film:

CBU Alumni are on either side of the camera in both production and acting. Producer, Britt Kerr, BBA Alumni from 2012 is the Chair of the Women in Film and Television Atlantic Board of Directors, the founding member of the Women in Film and Television Canada and was named a top 10 Canadians to watch by Variety Magazine. Actor, Ziyin Zheng, came to CBU from the other side of the world. Originally from Shanghai, China, Ziyin graduated with an MBA in Community Economic Development in 2017 and credits Cape Breton Island as the place where they were truly able to them self.

In addition to Ziyin and Britt, 5 more CBU Alumni were involved in the film. Yao Xue, Wei Zhao, Yi Suo, Rony Robson and Nidhin KH act in the film.

This exciting independent film is set in a remote small town. Star (Sarah Walker), a neurodiverse teen, forms an unlikely rapport with An (CBU Alumni Ziyin Zheng), an international student from Shanghai volunteering at the hospital. A bond forms, and their friendship evolves and profoundly changes both of characters.

QUEENS OF THE QING DYNASTY is distributed in Canada by MDFF and currently playing in theatres across the country. You can watch the trailer for the film here!
