An Open Letter to the Cape Breton High School Graduates

To the Cape Breton Island graduating class of 2021,

First and foremost, I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy.

On behalf of myself, the Cape Breton University Board of Governors, our faculty and staff, I extend a very sincere congratulations to you on your high school graduation. To all graduates across the Island both near and far, this is our time to celebrate you, and we do that together!

Despite the challenges you have faced over the past year because of the pandemic, you have worked hard, adapted and personified the motto of Cape Breton University, perseverance will triumph. Building and utilizing these skills will serve you well as you embark on your next chapter, whatever that may be.

We at CBU are so proud of you for reaching this milestone. The individual effort that you have shown to get you to this point is worth celebrating, and I hope you do just that. As you graduate from high school, I encourage you to keep being curious, to think outside of the box, to set goals for yourself and do all that you can to reach them. And remember, do not be discouraged when challenges come your way, facing them, as you have shown, will indeed make you stronger. I believe in you, CBU believes in you!
