From the CBU Alumni Vault

During this not so typical summer, the CBU Alumni Department took on a special project that we are excited to share with our campus community. Over the last few months, we have been busy combing through past yearbooks from our predecessor institutions as a new and fun way to engage with Alumni.

As many of you know, CBU has four predecessor institutions: Xavier Junior College, Nova Scotia Eastern Institute of Technology, College of Cape Breton and the University College of Cape Breton; all of which are members of the Cape Breton University Alumni Family. We know all of our Alumni are deeply proud of how far the University has come and the accomplishments we have seen, but there are still strong, engrained connections with those past institutions. We want to celebrate that!

And so, the CBU Alumni Vault Project was born. Every Thursday for the next several months, we will be featuring photos from yearbooks dating back to 1968 on our social media channels. Photos from orientation days to winter carnivals, sporting events, and graduations will grace our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages. Our goal is to build relationships with Alumni, create a story sharing dialogue, and show how far we’ve come as an institution, and where our Alumni have gone since graduation.

We invite you all to join in on the fun! Follow our social media pages and ‘like’, comment or share our photos for friends to see. If you want to be part of the action, share any stories or pictures of your time at a CBU predecessor institution with the hashtag #FromTheCBUVault or connect with Rochelle Hatcher, Annual Giving Specialist in the Development and Alumni Department, at Rochelle_Hatcher@cbu.ca, who would love to hear all of your stories.
