Atlantic University Sport has officially announced the Awards and All-Stars for the 2019-20 Basketball season and we are proud (but not surprised) to see some familiar names on the list.
Our very own Hailey MacLeod of Marion Bridge was named the AUS Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Rookie Team. Hailey made CAPERS fans proud playing in all 20 games this season, averaging 11.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. She joins Alison Keough, Colleen Keane, Amanda Fisher, and Janice Moseychuck as the fifth player from the CAPERS to earn this prestigious honour.
Fan-favourite and hometown hero MacKenzee Ryan was named a First Team All-Star and powerhouse Monique Calliste who has had fans on their feet all season long was named a Second Team All-Star.
Representing for the Men’s team, crowd-pleaser Osman Omar was named a Second Team All-Star and the wonder from down under Cooper Ward was named to the All-Rookie team.
Congratulations to all of our CAPERS Basketball student-athletes on an incredible season thus far, and best of luck at the AUS Championships this weekend in Halifax.
The CAPERS Women’s team will be taking the court on Friday at 1:00pm for their first game against UNB and the men will get their shot later that evening at 8:30pm. To watch live, visit www.AUStv.ca For tournament information, visit www.AUShoops.ca
