A New Opportunity to Help Others: Meet Wayne Miller

If you’re looking for boundless energy and creativity, Wayne Miller is your guy. This August, after a 20-year career in sales and marketing, retail and entrepreneurship, Wayne has joined the CBU family as Student Development Officer – Students of African Descent.

“As a person of African Nova Scotian descent who grew up in Whitney Pier and a CBU Alumnus, I am on a mission to shine a light on CBU in communities across Canada,” says Wayne. “I am extremely grateful to be part of the CBU team and to champion the Island’s prosperity.”

In his new role, Wayne will be responsible for the development and execution of African Nova Scotian and Canadian student recruitment strategies and will support the well-being of students as they move through their CBU journey. His experience mentoring African American youth while living in America, and his natural ability to form connections with all those he meets will ensure Wayne’s success in this new venture.

“I am looking forward to getting the word out that CBU is strongly committed to fostering diversity within our community,” says Wayne. “I am eager to assist students in developing skills that will make them successful learners and outstanding individuals.”

Winner of the Nova Scotia Black Business Initiative Entrepreneur of the Year award, Wayne also owns and operates his company DTN Labs Inc. which features the popular local business, Downtown Nutrition. We are confident that Wayne will excel in this role and are thrilled to welcome him, his wife Amy and their children August and Nova to the CBU family!
