MacLeod-Matheson Bursary

Award Description:

Originally from Cape Breton Island, Keith MacLeod and Gail Matheson graduated from the Engineering Technology program at Cape Breton University. Currently residing in Calgary, Keith and Gail travel back to the Island every summer to spend time in Baddeck.

“We received a lot from our time at CBU and felt it important to give back. Our family is settled now, and we established this fund to support Island students to allow them to focus on their studies and lessen their financial concerns. In particular, the MacLeod/Matheson awards are targeted to students not solely based on academic achievements but also on financial need and community involvement. We felt it important to support this group of students so they too may be provided with a CBU degree to help launch their future success.”

These non-renewable awards are valued at $5,000 for the first year of full-time studies at CBU. While all applications will be considered, preference will be given to students studying in STEM and/or business programs, and to students with an entering average of 90% or less from high school.
