Communications Specialist

CBU invites applications for the Communications Specialist. This is a full-time limited term position for approximately 20 months (until May 2025).

Reporting to the Office of the President, the Strategic Communications and Events Department exists to support initiatives, projects, campaigns and events designed to achieve institutional priorities. As a key group of brand champions, the team plays an important role in raising the visibility, strengthening the reputation and managing the voice of Cape Breton University.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing aspects of the strategic communications function including cross-departmental communications needs. Through the creation of original and curated content, the Communications Specialist is one of the primary content creators from a brand journalism perspective, and also serves as the communications representative on both internal and external committees, providing strategic advice and executing communications functions on behalf of such groups. The successful candidate will also work closely with department colleagues to ensure goal alignment, knowledge sharing and project collaboration.
