Accounting Clerk (Banking)

CBU invites applications for the position of Accounting Clerk (Banking) in the Finance Office. This is a Full-Time Continuing Role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely accounting support for the Finance Department of the University. The incumbent tracks banking information, including wire payments, receipts, and transfers between bank accounts; prepares invoices for individuals and businesses outside of the University; ensures proper and timely follow up; troubleshoots accounting and banking problems for the Finance Office and University departments; and provides back up for Buyer/Purchasing Clerk.

The candidate will also be asked to utilize and monitor CBUs ERP (Colleague), BMO Online Banking, CIBC Payments, Access Online banking, Moneris, MS Office and Finance databases. Some other duties will include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Finance Office policies and procedures. As well as maintain familiarity with international financial transfer procedures, including conversion of funds.

Some qualifications for this position are as listed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Introductory accounting course required, additional accounting courses an asset.
  • One (1) year experience in a business environment working with accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, receivables, payables, invoicing, etc.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
