CBU invites applications for the Executive Director, Centre of Excellence for Healthy Aging. This is a full-time continuing position (Subject to Budget Approval).

Cape Breton University’s Centre of Excellence for Healthy Aging (CEHA) is a collaborative research initiative to advance research in healthy aging and inform evidence-based healthy practices for rural, semi-rural, post-industrial, and Indigenous communities across Nova Scotia, Canada and around the world.

The successful candidate will oversee the Centre’s goal to create collaborative networks of researchers, practitioners, students and strategic partners to engage in health research and innovative initiatives aimed to ensure excellent quality of life for Nova Scotians as they age, and innovative approaches to address frailty and dementia.

The successful candidate will also directly support CBU’s overarching strategic healthcare initiative including the development of clinical research trial capacity. They will act as liaison for sponsors, applicable research ethics boards, government authorities, the CEHA Advisory committee, and CBU departments.

Some qualifications for this job are but not limited to:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a pre-/clinical trial setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting research and/or development in health sciences.
  • Knowledge of pre-clinical product development processes, including design controls and safety assessments.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Quality Management systems, including processes for managing documents and risks, developing training, and adapting to changing regulations and environments.
  • Experience working in a diverse multidisciplinary setting, including medical, public and private industry, and academic will be considered an asset.
