About the Job:
Guided by Dr. Bergonzoni, the successful candidate will help to audio describe scenes from a musical (provided via video) by a local theatre company, The Highland Arts Theatre (HAT). Other responsibilities include: supporting the recruitment and hiring of Blind and Low Vision (BLV) collaborators, administrative support related to an SSHRC-funded research project on accessibility in the arts. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accessibility in the arts, learn about disability justice frameworks, and deepen the understanding of research projects in partnership with a community partner.
Qualifications
The successful candidates will have: strong communication skills show an ethic of care have capacities for taking initiative and problem-solving. Candidates should be interested in accessibility, the arts, and research-creation. While all eligible candidates are invited to apply, candidates who self-identify as living with a visual impairment or on the blindness spectrum will be given priority consideration.
Work Study Eligibility
Must be enrolled full time and in good academic standing at Cape Breton University.
