Reporting to the Office of the President, the Strategic Communications and Marketing Department exists to support initiatives, projects, campaigns and events designed to achieve institutional priorities. As a key group of brand champions, the team also plays an important role in raising the visibility, strengthening the reputation, managing the CBU brand, advancing the CBU narrative and extending the reach of CBU’s diverse and expanding mandate through clear, consistent and constant communications.

The Communications and Social Media Ambassador will work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic team, supporting a range of communications initiatives including content creation and social media activities. This role reports to the Communications and Brand Manager and works closely with the rest of the Strategic Communications and Marketing Department.

The Communications and Social Media Ambassador will support the University’s strategic communications function, contributing to content development, storytelling and social media initiatives. Through the creation of original and curated content, the role helps maintain an engaging and consistent presence across the University’s official channels.

Duties

  • Support the planning and execution of social media and digital campaigns, including research, content coordination, monitoring and basic reporting.
  • Contribute to the creation of written and visual content.
  • Write and edit a range of communications materials including social media content, web copy, newsletters and stories.
  • Help maintain a consistent brand voice by adhering to institutional branding, style and accessibility standards.
  • Assist with event coordination and content development as required.
  • Identify and develop content that highlights student experiences, research and academic initiatives.
  • Monitor communications performance and contribute insights to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide general support for communications activities and projects, including other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • CBU student, currently enrolled. Preference given to those in a Communications, Writing or Marketing-related program.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with deadlines and multi-task on several projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and also independently.
  • Experience working with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tiktok, YouTube).
  • Experience with basic design, photo or video editing tools such as Canva or Capcut considered an asset.
  • Ability to write, proofread and edit clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences and platforms.
