Summer Employment Opportunity – Green Staff Member – Le Portage Golf – Cheticamp, NS

GREEN STAFF MEMBER

 Under supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Green Staff Member works on a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and performs related tasks as required and deemed necessary by the Golf Course Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES -using a variety of equipment, typical tasks include:

• Mowing (greens, tees, collars, fairways, rough, surrounds, grounds, etc)
• Cup changing / pin placement
• Tee marker placement
• Divot repair
• Bunker maintenance
• Drainage maintenance
• Irrigation maintenance
• Path maintenance
• Station maintenance
• Trimming
• Garbage pick up
• Recycling pick up / sorting
• Ball / club washer maintenance
• Course washroom maintenance
• Assisting in various cultural practices including fertilizing, topdressing, overseeding, vertical cutting, aeration, spraying, etc
• Miscellaneous tasks pertaining to golf course maintenance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc)
• Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for extended periods of
• Ability to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, lift up to 55 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs
• Ability to work with and around hazardous materials (pesticides, fertilizers, cleansers, fuel, grease, paints, solvents, etc ), equipment hazards, and errant golf
• Physically capable of operating all vehicles safely and

The wage is $16.50/ hour for a 48-hour week
