About the Role

The WCB Nova Scotia is seeking one (1) Occupational Health and Safety Co-op Student to support WCB’s Prevention Services – Practice Leadership Team. The term runs from May 4, 2026, to August 28, 2026, for a period of 17 weeks. We are seeking a student enrolled in an Occupational Health & Safety program with foundational knowledge of workplace hazards, ergonomics, and safety systems.

As the Co-op student you will support a range of activities focused on improving how prevention services are designed, delivered, and evaluated. You will contribute to project management, data tracking, and employer-facing prevention initiatives. You will gain exposure to both strategic planning and field-based prevention work.

Our Co-op Student program aims to provide students with valuable work experience that contributes to their education and helps them gain work experience. This placement will give the student practical exposure to how prevention strategy is translated into operational practice across WCB and how data, field engagement, and project management come together to drive safer workplaces.

Hours: 35 per week

Pay: $20/Hour

Primary areas of work will include:

  • Supporting project planning, scheduling, and tracking for prevention and practice-improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with development and documentation of tools, templates, and standard operating procedures
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to employer engagement and prevention outcomes
  • Participating in meetings with employers and internal teams to observe and support prevention consultations
  • Helping prepare reports, presentations, and summaries to communicate progress and results
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts tied to frontline leadership, ergonomics, and injury prevention priorities

Qualifications

  • Have or be completing the first year of a post-secondary program and be returning to school in the fall full-time (those contacted for an interview will be asked to provide confirmation of enrolment in a minimum of three courses for the Fall 2026 semester)
  • Strong organization and time-management skills to support multiple projects
  • Ability to work with data, spreadsheets, and basic reporting tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort interacting with employers and professionals in workplace settings
  • A self-motivated, curious learner who can work independently and as part of a team
