We are hiring a Finance Co-op Student
Position summary:
The Halifax Port Authority is seeking a Finance Co-op Student for a four month term. This position will
assist in departmental processes and would be excellent experience for a student currently enrolled in an
accounting program to gain further understanding of the business needs of the finance/accounting
department.
What you’ll do:
Main Responsibilities:
Entering Account Payable invoices and batches.
Assigning commodity codes, reviewing coding on invoices, etc.
Reconciling supplier statements.
Assisting in special projects as required.
Assisting with revenue billings when required.
Other miscellaneous duties:
Updating various listings, subscriptions, memberships, mileage, etc.
Assistance with ad hoc projects.
Other clerical duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
The successful student must be detailed orientated, organized and thorough.
The student must also be proficient in: Excel, Word and Outlook.
A student enrolled in a business program with a focus in accounting or finance is considered an
asset.

Position Term
The term of this position is from May 4, 2026 to August 28, 2026.
Compensation
The compensation for this student position will be dependent on the program and year of study. The
minimum rate of this position is $20.50 per hour.
Additional Conditions
• Successful completion and maintenance of a Criminal Record Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Pass (RAP).
