Summary

The mission of the Atlantic Memorial Park project is to create a seaside journey of remembrance that brings Canada’s military history home.

The proposed park will encompass a beautiful and publicly owned 120 acre area consisting of the Chapel Point Battery, Edwards Pond, and Lockman’s Beach areas in Sydney Mines. This location was chosen due to the areas rich military history dating back to the 18th century.

 

Job Title: Park Tour Guide
Start date: June 16th

This position will be for 10 weeks beginning June 16th, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, Tuesday to Saturday.  The Park is not opened on Sunday or Monday.

Key Responsibilities

                Daily Duties – Opening of the Park

  • Check the premises, trail to the beach, bathrooms, ticket booth, and main floor.
  • Conduct tours using the script provided, elaborating as required.
  • Ensure that the golf cart is always cleaned for tourists and filled with gas.
  • Ensure equipment such as cameras, videos, music, etc., is turned on and ready for tours.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the premises—bathrooms must be cleaned and bathroom floors swept. The Command Post must be swept, and the mats vacuumed. Garbage must be placed in the service room.
  • Other duties deemed necessary by the Project Administrator.

                Ongoing Project

  • Develop a scavenger hunt
  • Assist with other activities to utilize the Park for children.
