Position Description

Reporting to the Manager of Communications & Donor Relations through the Development Officer – Alumni Relations, the selected student will be an integral part of CBU’s Alumni & Development team. The student will gain hands on experience across multiple advancement functions including fundraising, customer relationship management systems, communications, marketing, public relations, event planning and management, prospect research and proposal writing.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Plan, promote and execute events for alumni, donors and other stakeholders
• Assist with the planning and execution of annual giving activities including content creation, stewardship initiatives and related events
• Under the guidance of Development staff, research, interview and write alumni stories to build a databank of engaging alumni profiles for use in print and digital marketing campaigns, while supporting outreach to lost alumni as CBU works toward celebrating 50 years as a post secondary institution
• Promote and assist with communications through website and email platforms
• Assist with planning university events including Fall Convocation, Special Convocation, conferences and other events supported by CBU Development
• Develop skills using databases and other marketing and communications tools
• Engage in primary and secondary research to support the fundraising department while adhering to appropriate ethical guidelines
• Provide administrative support to the Development team as required
• Assist with CRM database management and reporting, including data segmentation, stewardship tracking and generating basic reports to support fundraising and alumni engagement strategy.
• Support donor prospect research and background brief preparation for meetings, sponsorship outreach and campaign initiatives.
• Draft and edit alumni and donor communications, including newsletters, campaign messaging and impact stories for digital and print platforms.
• Assist in developing and analyzing social media and email marketing performance metrics, providing summary insights and recommendations to improve engagement.
• Work in an energetic, team-oriented environment, contributing to projects and tasks of varying size and scope for diverse stakeholder audiences
• Other duties as assigned
