About the Job
The CBU Career Centre is a new student hub dedicated to supporting career development, work integrated learning and entrepreneurship. The Career Services Assistant will play a key role in promoting Career Centre activities and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students.
Duties
- Support day-to-day Career Centre operations and contribute to a positive and engaging environment to students and other visitors
- Welcome students and other visitors to the Career Centre, perform basic triage and provide information on workshops and other services
- Update and maintain Career Centre Job Board
- Conduct brief resume reviews and provide constructive feedback during appointments and drop-in sessions
- Refer students to Career Services staff and other campus supports, as appropriate
- Assist with the planning, promotion and delivery of career-related events, such as employer recruitment sessions, networking events, and career & job fairs
- Create content for social media channels in the promotion of services, events and programming
- Assist staff with data entry
Requirements:
- Current CBU student in good academic standing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to utilize MS Word and Excel
- Experience creating graphic content for social media platforms, including Linkdedin
- Training will be provided, however, basic knowledge of resume writing and job search strategies, as well as a genuine interest in career development considered an asset
