Community CARES Youth Outreach is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to coordinate a 10-week youth
engagement initiative. The Youth Engagement Project Coordinator will support a group of young people (ages
15–25) through weekly workshops, hands-on activities, and planning support, helping them build essential skills,
explore leadership, and contribute to a community project that fosters connection, belonging and well being.
The successful candidate will be responsible for program planning, workshop facilitation, and event coordination.
This is a results-focused position that requires someone who has recent experience in maintaining an
environment where all those involved feel physically, mentally and emotionally safe.
The ideal candidate is someone with direct experience in community-based youth development who brings
initiative, strong organizational skills, and a supportive, inclusive approach.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
● Model professional and ethical standards
● Recruit and support a small team of youth participants (ages 15–25)
● Facilitate some group workshops and activities that build skills and confidence
● Coordinate learning/skills building activities to be delivered by partner organizations
● Guide the development and implementation of a youth-led community project
● Support youth in exploring themes such as belonging, employability, health and wellness, and other areas
of interest identified by participants
● Work with CCYO staff and volunteers to plan event logistics and outreach
● Support project documentation and evaluation; track/measure outcomes to meet grant deliverables
● Promote a respectful and inclusive space for learning, sharing, and community involvement
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
● Demonstrated experience leading community or youth-focused projects
● Strong facilitation and group coordination skills
● Ability to engage young people in skill-building activities and collaborative planning
● Awareness of community issues and barriers facing youth
● Excellent time management and communication skills
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
● Experience with community events or youth leadership programs considered an asset
● Strong commitment to inclusion, cultural respect, and trauma-informed practice
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
● Education or training in youth work, community development, social sciences, or related discipline; and 3
plus years of experience supporting youth or leading community-based programs.
● Experience facilitating group learning, coordinating workshops, or community outreach
● Understanding of the strengths-based approach and youth development principles
● Ability to work outside of regular business hours as needed (i.e. some evenings and weekends).
● Driver’s licence and access to a motor vehicle would be an asset.
