The Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce works to support and strengthen the business community across the CBRM through advocacy, networking, education, collaboration, and member services.

Description:
We are seeking a motivated and organized co-op student to support Chamber operations, member services, events, and business initiatives during the Fall semester.

 

This position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative professional environment and exposure to the local business community. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of projects and day-to-day activities while gaining valuable experience in business operations, communications, administration, and community engagement.

 

Depending on the successful candidate’s area of study and interests, there may also be opportunities to assist with special projects supporting local businesses and Chamber initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support daily Chamber operations and administrative activities
  • Assist with member communications and outreach
  • Help prepare marketing materials, newsletters, and digital content
  • Assist with event preparation, registration, and on-site support
  • Conduct research and assist with business and community initiatives
  • Support internal organization, databases, and document management
  • Assist with special projects and member-focused initiatives
  • Provide professional and friendly support to members, stakeholders, and visitors
  • Collaborate with Chamber staff on new ideas and organizational projects

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program in Business, Marketing, Communications, Office Administration, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, or a related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Comfortable working in a professional and fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital platforms such as Canva, Google Workspace, or social media tools is considered an asset
  • Interest in business, entrepreneurship, and community development
