Transit
Transit Cape Breton is a municipal service run by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM). Effective June 15, 2026, all Transit Cape Breton rides are $2.50 one way anywhere within CBRM. After paying the initial fare, riders can transfer between buses at no additional cost to reach their destination.
Riders can pay their CBRM bus fare using the Umo app, a reusable reloadable transit card, debit or credit card tap payment or exact cash fare. Riders with a smartphone are encouraged to download the Umo app, which becomes their digital transit pass and payment system.
For riders without a smartphone, reusable reloadable transit cards are available for $10 at the City Hall Citizen Service Centre located at 320 Esplanade. Funds can be added online or in person at City Hall. To get a discounted 30-day unlimited ride pass, visit the City Hall Citizen Service Centre to confirm your eligibility. Please bring a valid student ID.

Transit Cape Breton offers an Access-A-Bus service, which is a specialized transit service for clients unable to use the conventional transit system. The Access-A-Bus service is available in all communities throughout the CBRM and users must be eligible and registered.
