About CAPR Radio:

Through the distinct commitments of campus-community radio, promoting and contextualizing life on campus to a diverse group of listeners, CAPR Radio has become an important aspect of CBU culture.

Since receiving its official campus broadcasting license from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in July 2019, CAPR Radio has evolved from its modest beginnings as a cafeteria stereo system in the late 1990s into an essential voice within CBU’s creative arts ecosystem. Once operating on the margins of both the Canadian broadcast spectrum and its host university, the station has gained greater significance through its licensing and increased engagement within the CBU community.

The success of CAPR Radio is driven by the distinct talents of its staff and volunteers, who are committed to informing and entertaining with accuracy and responsibility. At its core, the station values diversity, knowledge sharing and creative expression. As a not-for-profit, campus-based station, CAPR Radio is owned, operated and managed by its members, offering programming for the community, by the community. Through its commitment to inclusivity, CAPR Radio provides ongoing training opportunities for volunteers, primarily CBU students, fostering hands-on learning in broadcasting, audio production and event promotion.

At CAPR Radio, music playing through key areas of the campus is curated by the staff and volunteers. The station keeps the campus informed about current events while showcasing music across all genres, featuring both local and international artists. With its eclectic mix of music and spoken-word content, CAPR Radio cuts through the noise of social media and commercialized broadcasting to amplify the voices, ideas and artistry of CBU students.
