Student Responsibilities

In order for students with disabilities to receive accommodations and assistance required from the Jennifer Keeping AccessAbility Center, the student is solely responsible to:

  • Provide documentation of the disability from an appropriate source (psychologist, ophthalmologist, audiologist or any other professional who is familiar with the student's disability).
  • Inform the campus prior to or at the time of enrollment so that we can determine the appropriate services needed for the following year.
  • Make an appointment with the disability resource facilitator to discuss their disability.
  • Inform their instructors of their disability. By doing so, it allows for instructors to meet the student's needs accordingly (examinations to be written in a quiet area or to be administered in alternate format).
  • Maintain the same responsibilities as those without a disability, such as admission and academic requirements. The student must also behave in an appropriate manner that is applicable to the university environment.
  • Keep the centre informed of any changes that arise throughout their university career (changes in their disability).
