Dr. Mary Keating Medal

Cape Breton University strives to foster a culture of academic integrity, which is of the utmost importance in education and scholarship. To recognize students who embody the highest standards of academic citizenship, and to continually encourage conversations about academic integrity, CBU is proud to award The Dr. Mary Keating Medal annually to one student from each of CBU’s schools.

In a distinguished CBU career spanning many decades, Dr. Mary Keating has made countless contributions to the culture of academic integrity. In addition to teaching in the Department of Literature, Folklore, and the Arts, she has served ably as a Senator, Chair of Senate’s Academic Committee, Associate Dean, Interim Dean, and in many other positions.

To be eligible for this award, students must be in good academic standing and enrolled in any program on a full-time or part-time basis. Students can be nominated as a group or individually.  Each award will be based on the student’s demonstrated commitment to the values identified by CBU’s Charter of Academic Citizenship, especially Originality, Integrity and Collegiality.
