Director, Early Childhood Centre

Cape Breton University invites applicants for the role of Director, Early Childhood Centre. This position is a Full Time Continuing commencing July 1 2024 (or soon thereafter).

The successful candidate will oversee the daycare’s operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering high-quality programming. Reporting to the Board Chair, you’ll coordinate staff, manage budgets, and foster positive relationships with families and regulatory bodies. Responsibilities include maintaining smooth operations, supervising staff, facilitating enrollment, supporting program evaluation, and representing the agency in the childcare community.

Qualifications for this role will include:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Early Childhood Centre setting with progressive responsibility
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a management capacity at an Early Childhood Centre
  • Early Childhood Education degree or diploma with a Classification Level 2 or 3
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level “C” CPR
  • Submission of Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry with no incidences
  • Demonstrated child care centre management/supervisory experience an asset
  • Solid knowledge of the Nova Scotia Day Care Act and Education and Early Childhood Development regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; high degree of initiative and dedication; team player
  • Commitment to high quality programming for children and a supportive work environment for staff
