Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for the Accounts Payable Clerk, in the Finance department. This is a full-time limited term position for approximately 6 months.
The successful candidate is responsible for timely and accurate processing of all invoices, travel expense reports, cheque requests, PD claims, wire transfers and EFTs, including externally funded projects/grants. The incumbent will also respond to a variety of inquiries (phone, e-mail) regarding payments, and provide clerical support for Payables. Provide back up to the Accounting Clerk (Data Processing).
The successful candidate will hold Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and have taken Introductory accounting course and any additional accounting courses are considered an asset. One (1) year experience in a business environment working with accounting functions such as receivables, payables, invoicing, etc. The candidate will posses accurate keyboarding skills with proficiency in MS Office, web browser, database use and ability to learn updated and/or new software quickly, in particular, Colleague.
The accounting clerk will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with other university employees. They will also have good judgment skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality and be able to demonstrated ability to multi-task and work accurately and independently.
The union affiliation of this position is with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3131. Salary level is Band A6.
