The Facilities Management Department maintains the University’s roadways, landscaping and parking areas. In order to meet the varied needs of our students, faculty, staff and visitors, parking is by permit only. Each vehicle must clearly display a valid parking pass. Security personnel monitor our parking areas to ensure vehicles are parking in the proper, designated areas and are authorized by the Cape Breton Regional Municipality to issue parking violation tickets.
The University provides a variety of parking areas with different designations and types of passes available for parking in these areas as follows:
Coin-operated meters permit parking for intervals of 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 and 2 hours. The fee is based on $1 per hour – with 2-hour maximum. All other passes are not valid at metered spaces.
$1 Parking Permit must be clearly displayed inside the vehicle. Valid for the date shown on the permit. Daily permits may be purchased from any of the coin-operated ticket dispensers located near parking areas and indicated on the map above.
Term Parking Permits must be clearly displayed inside the vehicle and are valid for the academic term shown on the permit (i.e. Sept 1-Dec 31, Jan 1-Apr 30, May 1-Aug 31). Permits can be purchased from the CBU Security Center from 8am to 4pm.
Staff wishing to use payroll deductions for their parking fees may purchase an annual parking pass from the Facilities Management office.
A limited number of spaces have been designated as reserved parking spaces and can be arranged by contacting the Facilities Management office. These passes are paid yearly and are valid 24 hours per day, seven days per week (holidays included) and year round in the designated space only.
Staff passes are available from the Human Resources office for parking in designated areas around the student residences. These passes are not valid in any other location at any time.
A limited number of spaces are designated for vehicles clearly displaying a Province of Nova Scotia approved disabled parking permit, as well as a valid CBU parking permit.
Permits issued under certain terms and conditions. Valid as pre-paid parking of one vehicle during period specified by permit, subject to the availability of space. Permit must be clearly displayed inside your vehicle.
Parking regulations are enforced year round. Parking violations carry a penalty of $25. Enforcement of all CBU parking regulations is under the authority of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
No parking is permitted by any vehicles on roadways, clearly marked “No Parking” areas or in fire lanes.
