WORK STUDY WINTER 2025: WellNS Marketing Specialist

  • Location: Cape Breton University
  • Deadline: February 3, 2025 at 12:59 pm

About the Job

The Project: WellNS Research has launched a provincial mental health and addiction survey. Research shows that surveys tend to reach only a certain demographic. As this project will be the largest scale provincial mental health survey to date, we are determined to reach populations which are historically underrepresented. To do this, we know we need to find new ways of reaching equity-deserving populations. The Role: Through social media, we will raise awareness around the social determinants of health and why gathering data around these topics is so critical to our research, and how this information will be used to improve mental health outcomes province wide. We want to build community understanding that mental wellness is impacted by many factors outside of the individual. A mix of personal stories and educational content presented in different forms (video, reels, interviews, information decks, etc) will help ensure that we meet as many different learning styles as possible. You will create content for our targeted social media sites (FB, IG, LinkedIn) as well as physical pieces to be shared in community hubs (libraries, places of worship, community centers, etc.). You are driven by your sense of social justice and your passion to reduce barriers to mental health services for groups who are historically underserved. This works study position will be flexible part time and allow you to work around your own school schedule.  We will seek a candidate with a varied skill set, from design (Canva, Adobe Illustrator) to communication (writing posts) to knowledge transfer (reading scholarly articles and crafting an accessible version to share with the public). We are interested to hear about your skills and welcome your input into our strategy.
