Academic Advising & Success Coaching

Important Advising Information

All first-year and new to CBU students will receive Academic Advising information via their CBU email once they pay their seat confirmation fee. Students should check their inbox regularly for updates. Once students have received the advising email, they need to book an in-person or virtual appointment with their academic advisor through their Compass Student Account. Students are encouraged to book the earliest available appointment to receive help planning or adding to their course list. Students can contact advising@cbu.ca with any questions or problems.

Academic Advising at CBU is available both virtually and in person at The Advising Centre, located in the Marvin Harvey Building. Academic advising offers personalized guidance to help students plan and navigate their academic journey, from course selection and registration to post-graduation goals. CBU’s Advisors work closely with students to develop and refine an academic plan that aligns with students’ educational and career aspirations.

The support students need depends on where they are in their program, whether they’re learning how to register for courses, managing schedules, exploring major options, or preparing for life after graduation. The Advising team is here to provide the advice and resources to help students succeed.

How to Book an Advising Appointment

CBU students can book a virtual or in-person advising appointment via their Compass Student Account. New students can expect to receive this information via email from CBU’s IT Department within a week of acceptance to CBU. Students can log in to their Compass Student Account. and select the green “username” icon in the top right corner, then select “Program and Advising Support” from the drop down options.
