Psychology Department Assistant

The psychology department at CBU is examining the structure of its programs and spaces during a time of renewal. This position will gather necessary background information from both online sources and survey/interviews of stakeholders to facilitate the process.

Duties:

  • Review undergraduate program requirements in undergraduate programs (BA, BSc, and other if relevant) across Canada, with a focus on the Maritimes, as listed in university calendars.
  • Review micro-credentials associated with psychology undergraduate degree programs, comparing them to our existing or potential future co-curricular and certificate programs.
  • Survey and interview faculty, graduates, and current students about the applicability of current course requirements, using the previously gathered background information (noted in the two bullet points above) as a guide.
  • Document classroom space at CBU and elsewhere and generate proposals for improvements in future buildings and innovative use of existing teaching spaces, including Moodle and potential adaptations to AI technologies such as ChatGPT.
  • Document current departmental space at CBU as a guide for replacements space in a new location as part of campus redevelopment
  • Examine models of research support for undergraduate research projects including original empirical thesis work.
  • Identify CBU undergraduates who published original projects with CBU faculty.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Survey research experience and data visualization & presentation skills
  • Interviewing and qualitative methods experience with a diversity of respondents
  • Presentation experience, written and oral

Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with the CBU Psychology Department, PSYC courses & degree options
  • Attention to detail
  • An understanding of the bigger picture and project objectives
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills, including online searches
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Access to a reliable internet connection and a computer
