Competition #: 0048-21 Position: WNV/Safe Water Program Students (3)
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is currently recruiting for three (3) WNV Students for our Health Protection Division within our City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton and Northumberland offices for the summer of 2022.
Position Summary:
The WNV/Safe Water Program student works under the guidance of a Public Health Inspector, carries out activities related to the monitoring and sampling for the presence of West Nile virus within Health Unit area and duties, as assigned, in the Safe Water program i.e. recreational water sampling.
The successful candidate will have:
▪ Enrolled in/or completed Bachelor of Applied Science Program (Environmental Health) Program, Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Health, Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health);
▪ Preference will be given to students in 1st, 2nd or 3rd year in public health programs at universities accredited by CIPHI;
▪ Proficiency in oral and written communication skills;
▪ Working knowledge of Windows based word processing and electronic spreadsheets an asset;
▪ A current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check; and
▪ A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work.
Location(s): Lindsay, Haliburton, Port Hope
Salary Range: $16/hour
Start Date: May 16, 2022
