We are currently seeking a Business Analyst student to join our JDI IT team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The opportunity is focused on providing a well-rounded experience, that will expose the successful candidate to technical and business processes across various functional groups throughout the Halifax Shipyard.

In recent years, JDI IT has worked hand-in-hand with Irving Shipbuilding to implement IT solutions and processes, from procurement applications to automated shop floor manufacturing, that has assisted in making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern shipyards in the world.

Your Focus:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze problems / opportunities for efficiencies and make recommendations for           improvements
  • Proficient verbal / written communication skills with ability to communicate with various levels of staff
  • High level of independence, self-motivation, and energy to drive projects to completion
  • Strong technical writing and documentation experience to effectively produce documents such as Business Requirements Documents, Work Instructions, etc.

You Have:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university co-op program
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of tools (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Desire to problem solve and work with others to map out processes to pinpoint improvements
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication
  • Curiosity, drive for excellence and interest in technology
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies

  • Training and experience in multiple industry technologies

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
