Location: In-person; Sydney, Nova Scotia

Term: 16 weeks (April – August 2023)
Hours per week: 35 (or equivalent)
Salary: Depending on experience ($18-21/hour)

Program of Study: Accounting or Finance, Commerce

Description:
The student intern will have the opportunity to work in a variety of functional areas within the Finance Department, working directly with the Financial Controller. The duties will span various areas of business administration and financial management of a growing not-for-profit organization, including account reconciliation, data collection and analysis, documentation of procedures and other administrative and financial support. The student will assist with completing financial data analysis, account reconciliations, preparing monthly reports, and assist with the year-end audit as required. This position also offers an opportunity to engage in market research and analysis, creating and providing reports for timely decision making and provide support with the development of strategic plans and forecasts while working closely with marketing and cluster development and client relations team.
Qualifications:
• Candidates should be enrolled in post-secondary degree (BBA, MBA, accounting, finance, commerce, or economics) co-op program.
• Poses excellent computer, database, and spreadsheet software skills; proficient working in a Microsoft Office environment.
• Demonstrate leadership skills and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong desire to learn and able to lead projects to implement insights that can result in process efficiencies.
• Demonstrate strong time-management skills and able to multi-task effectively.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public; use discretion and maintain confidentiality as well as perform other duties as required.

**This role is only open to students in a current Co-op education program, the Post Baccalaureate diplomas do not qualify as a Co-op education program.**
