Position Overview
Are you passionate about HR and eager to gain hands on experience in primary HR
functions? The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and
problem-solving skills that allow you to work effectively with both your team and the various
personalities across the organization. Your uncanny ability to keep organized allows you to manage
multiple competing priorities with ease and finesse. You demonstrate a high level of
confidentiality which builds trust in those that you work with.
Core Competencies
Executional Excellence
• Assist the People and Culture team in the day-to-day operation of the department.
• Assist with drafting offer letters and sending out new employee packages.
• Monitor the status of completed paperwork and follow up with employees when needed.
• Assist with new employee onboarding functions, assigning employee ID cards and uniforms.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of employee events.
• Utilize the HRIS to add new employees, update personal information, and make other changes as
necessary.
• Assist with recruitment functions, including posting positions, screening resumes, contacting
applicants, and scheduling interviews.
• Assist with employee orientation sessions (First Season Orientation and Returning Staff
Orientation).
• Respond to general HR inquiries, flagging escalated issues to the HR Generalist and/or the
Director, HR.
• Prioritize all telephone calls and in-person external and internal visitors.
• Electronic filing of employee records.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary Degree, Diploma, or Post-Graduate Certificate in People and Culture or People
and Culture Management.
• Basic knowledge of using an HRIS.
• Basic understanding of HR principles, best practices, and employment legislation including
Nova Scotia Employment Standards and the Worker’s Compensation Board.
• Quick learner, detail oriented with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• , Outlook, and PowerPoint.
