Position Overview

Core Competencies

 

HRIS & Payroll

  • Create and maintain employee records in the HRIS including setting up new hires, actioning changes, and processing departures.
  • Electronic filing of employee records and payroll package.

 

Benefit Administration

  • Group benefit plan administration.
  • Onboarding and offboarding as it relates to benefits.

 

Talent Management & Organizational Development

  • Assist with the recruitment and hiring process, submitting approved job postings online.
  • Assist with the preparation of employee agreements.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of onboarding programs and coordinate for all new hires, includes issuing staff ID cards, uniforms, and other materials.
  • Update and maintain job descriptions.
  • Assist with the creation and deployment of employee surveys.
  • Assist with creating and implementing programs to promote a positive employee experience.
  • Backcheck

 

Employee Relations

  • Respond to employee queries in a timely manner.
  • Prepare employment verification letters.
  • Prepare employee letters and memos.
  • Prepare company communications.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree, Diploma, or Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resources or Human Resources Management.
  • CPHR (or in progress).
  • Excellent computer skills with strong knowledge of MS Office applications and HRIS.
  • Understanding of HR principles, best practices, and employment legislation including Nova Scotia Employment Standards and the Worker’s Compensation Board.
  • Quick learner, detail oriented with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
